The streets of Romsey were crowded with onlookers trying to catch a glimpse of the various members of the Royal Family who attended the wedding of Earl Mountbatten's eldest daughter.

🎬August 1975 marked the 40th anniversary of the opening of the M27 motorway. Paul Clifton looks back at the sometimes dramatic life of the road.
The first section of the motorway near Southampton opened in August 1975. The original idea was for a south coast motorway stretching from Kent to Cornwall. For financial reasons, this would never happen.

Episode 13 Mesmerised Children. One of a series of features which celebrate BBC South's 50 years of broadcasting. In 1979 Emma and Joanna Dunckley would stop and stare at the television at the same time every day, mesmerised by the opening titles of BBC South Today. 31 years later we gave the film to Joanna, to play as a surprise at her sister Emma's wedding.
