    🎬British Pathé – Cyclist couple arrive to wedding on bicycles and depart on a tandem. Bournemouth, Dorset. Title reads 'Cyclists' Novel Wedding - Mr. B. S. Bennett & Miss Gwen Hawkins - fellow club members - cycle solo to their wedding- and depart - tandem.' Bride Miss Gwen Hawkins and groom Mr B. S. Bennett, leaving a church and going through crowd holding bicycle wheels over their heads. LS. Bride and groom surrounded by crowd in front of the building after wedding - they are the members of the same cycling club. Various shots of the mass crowd pushing police and squabbling around the church. Several shots of the bride and groom on a tandem bicycle riding towards camera with cyclers escort. They stop in front of a house and dismount. They are greeted by relatives. MS. Couple standing at door. Cataloguer's note - there are signs of decomposition on this item.

    🎬British Pathé – Stanley Turner was once blind, an operation allows him to see his home and family again. Issue title is PATHE PICTORIAL LOOKS AT OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS. Various library shots of workers leaving factory. Salisbury, Wiltshire C/U of blind telephone operator, Stanley Turner, at work. Various shots of church - could be Salisbury Cathedral. Narrator explains that Stanley has recently regained his sight thanks to operation. Various shots of market town (probably Salisbury). Shots are taken from point of view of Stanley walking. He buys some daffodils from a flower seller in street. M/S of Stanley's wife putting daffodils into a vase. Various shots of Stanley playing with his two young sons. Despite wearing thick glasses Stanley is able to read story to them. Various shots of Stanley admiring his favourite pipe. He picks up a photograph of his wife and looks at it, she then walks over to him. * may not be correct - Salisbury is only mentioned in commentary as location of infirmary

Various shots civilian man (looks like Lord or politician?) inspecting troop of British soldiers outside barracks, he pauses to chat with some. Various C/Us of the soldiers. Various shots service women (ATS - Women's Auxiliary Service) outside bunker, they show the man a special telescope. NB: not sure if Brockhurst is place or name of man! Could it be Brockenhurst in Hampshire?

  • Camera Interviews - The Steeplejack (1933)

    🎬British Pathé – Probably unusable item about Salisbury Cathedral steeplejacks - very bad decomposition. "Not everybody would choose to tackle this kind of high life business" L/S of a large cathedral - framed inside an oval mask (bad decomposition on this shot). Camera tilts up to show spire of cathedral. "This is the 400 foot spire of the Salisbury Cathedral - highest in England - and hardly the nicest of spots to perch even a temporary nest - " Low angle shot of the spire - steeplejack just visible. "But, what a view of Salisbury! (and what a slender nervy platform to film from!)" Short shot - badly decomposed. Was an item in Eve's Film Review issue number 609. Note: very, very badly decomposed - probably unusable

  • British Army Manoeuvres Aka British Army Manoeuvers (1925)

    🎬British Pathé – Footage of British army on maneuvers in Hampshire. Item title reads - British Army Manoeuvres. 50,000 troops take part in "Great War of 1925" between Mercia-Force - v. Wessex-Mobility. Somewhere in Hampshire. Intertitle - 'the opening day.....mud and continuous rain made conditions that almost rivalled Flanders!' M/S as the soldiers walk through a town. M/S as they walk along on a muddy road. M/S as a rope is attached to a pole outside a shop next to a carriage. M/S of camouflaged tanks at the side of the road, other soldiers ride through on horses. Intertitle - '"We are staying on a farm."' M/S as the camera pans across the barn with thatch coming off, soldiers stand in front with mugs of tea. Intertitle - 'Signals ...... the army's "nerves."' M/S as a man rides along with a wire on a pole, men hammer and pull out a pole, they put a long stick in the ground. M/S as they attach something to a tree, wires run along the road to a cart in front. Intertitle - 'The ever welcome rum ration!' M/S of one soldier with a big bottle of rum, he pours it out into the glasses for the soldiers
