An exhibit in the Heritage Centre
In 1996 the Town Council purchased an old disused Steam Mill Building and developed it as a Heritage Centre to depict in detail the history of the Town. In the Heritage Centre you can take a walk through time from the Bronze Age to the present day. The Heritage Centre also houses the Bronze Age dagger found to the north of the Town when the new Testwood Lakes were being excavated.
In addition to permanent exhibits, there are also temporary displays featuring specific periods in local history and local matters of interest.
A Resource Room provides the ideal opportunity to research your family history or learn more about the fascinating history of the area.
Adjoining the Heritage Centre is a Cafe where you can have a quiet coffee or light lunchtime snack. The Cafe is open the same hours as the Heritage Centre and provides an ideal place for locals and visitors alike.
Admission
Admission to the Centre is FREE, and if you have enjoyed your visit, there is a collecting tin for donations
