Readers from local paper the Daily Echo have been following the goshawks too. They’ve been posting suggestions on the newspaper’s website. As you can see, some are more New Foresty than others!

Bramble and Bracken
Bill and Ben
Raptorcam and Priceless
Woody and Heather
Fally and Conway
Humphrey or Edward and Alice or Edith (From the book ‘Children of the New Forest’)
Mistral and Shamal (two famous wind systems, as they seemed to have battled the winds and survived)
Eco and Spring
Spirit and Speed
Ducky and Sheepy
Chicky and William
Sky and Cloud
Lancelot and Guinevere
Faith and Hope
Websy and Camsy
Gus and Gerty
Lynyrd and Skynyrd
Circe and Apollo (Circe was a goddess in Greek mythology who usually surrounded herself by hawks. Apollo has as hawk as his messenger)
Honey and Rock
Electra and Varian
Peter and Jordan (because they’re always messing around!)
Gorse and Bracken
Rufus and Stone
Forest and Heath
Storm and Lucky (because of the stormy weather, which they were lucky to survive)
Matt and Luke (as in Matt and Luke from 80s band Bros)
Hunter and Forester
Squeak and Squawk

As the two goshawk chicks grow,
they are starting to develop their own personalities.
So what better time to give them names?

We are looking for suggestions. We would like these suggestions to reflect The New Forest in some way. So if you have an idea for both or even just one of the chicks take part in this forum. The New Forest is famous for many things such as the extensive heathland, gorse bushes, the Knightwood Oak, the Rufus stone, or what about the forest rights.... etc etc, we think you know where we are going with this. Get the thinking caps on and have a go....

Names will be chosen from the suggestions on the 12th June.

How to post your suggestion:
1/     "Reply" to this post.
2/     ENTER THE NAME IN CAPITALS.
3/     Give a description of its New Forest connection, or why you like the name.
4/     Click on "Update" at the bottom of the page.

Thanks,
NFG

Some more postings from Echo readers...

Spectre and Phantom
Breeze and Drizzle (as they are looking pretty rough with the wind and the rain)
Forest and Spruce
Echo and Forest
Bonny and Clyde
Denny and Furzey (after the New Forest Lodges)
Bora and Shamal (after two famous whirl wind systems as the birds seem to have battled the windy elements to survive)

Heather and Heath because of the Forest connection

I did not know that hedgehogs could be desperate unless they are trying to avoid cars!
