The other week there was another fatal accident on the A337, this time at the top of Beechwood Road.
I cycle from Bartley to Minstead twice a day and have to cross the Lyndhurst Road, it's invariably a hair raising experience. However, after the road was re-surfaced in June there were no white lines for a quite a while and I'm sure the traffic ran slower and appeared to be more considerate to other road users and me.
Doesn't this mass of white lines and painted boxes just give motorists a false sense of security....Nothing can get me if I stay between the lines.....
I think we should have LESS lines on the road NOT MORE. Then perhaps drivers would have to be more conscious of other road users, their position on the road and most importantly their speed.
