Hello,
We have established it is not a fault with our version of Windows Media player as we can play videos from our C Drive perfectly well. This means we must have all the correct codecs to play videos and to my knowledge no extra are needed simply to view and buffer/load videos online.
Could someone else check the videos are working correctly on these pages;
www.newforestgateway.org/TVFilm/Newsreels/PatheNewsreelSearch/tabid/61/grm2id/49/Default.aspx
www.newforestgateway.org/TVFilm/Newsreels/PatheNewsreelSearch/tabid/61/grm2id/54/Default.aspx
Also, would it be possible to add a download of the videos, or add a quicktime feature to the page so we can either download the videos or view them on a different program?
Thanks for any assistence on this matter.
Glenn
Hello Glenn,
Gypsies in the New Forest BP010147220006 / Gypsy Artists BP1405564121
We have viewed both videos this morning, both titles appear to be playing fine. The videos are held on the British Pathe website in the form of wmv and as you say no extra software/codecs are required. Do other titles play okay for you? Video codec: Windows Media Video V8 Audio codec: Windows Media Audio 9. 20 kbps, 22 kHz, mono (A/V) 1-pass CBR
We are unable to offer a download link......yet. We are hoping to include this. Also many of the titles are available as Quicktime (QT6) at British Pathe, although our current search engine does not include this facility.
Photographs: There are various photos of gypsies around the New Forest. http://www.newforestgateway.org/PictureLibrary/TheLibrary/tabid/100/AlbumID/791-87/Default.aspx
Also currently under the heading "Activities" are some photos "camping" of homeles people forced under canvas in 1949. http://www.newforestgateway.org/PictureLibrary/TheLibrary/tabid/100/AlbumID/791-83/Default.aspx

The videos stopped playing for me on Friday afternoon, but when I logged in on Saturday they were working fine.
Hi Glenn,
A couple of weeks ago, none of the videos I tried worked. Then they were fine in the evening. All fine today.
Perhaps the British Pathe website was down.
cheers, Chandler
